As we understand more and more of how human health works, and as more and more of the delicate and intricate interconnections surface, more and more delicate and intricate ways of healing are bound to arise.
A lot of emails have been coming in that express concern with the proper use of painkillers. Some people are upset that prescription is for so little, others are worried about how many times a day you can pop them, while still others are afraid of addiction and of developing psychological problems or bad habits due to taking drugs. This topic seems to need some fleshing out, and so I thought I would post a general little article about painkillers and how to use them.
My wisdom teeth are growing in sideways, and are crushing my molars. My first molar has already broken in half, and I needed to get a crown and a root canal to fix it, and I have an appointment to get the wisdom tooth removed. My question is; are there going to be any negative repercussions involved in getting them removed? I know that when a tooth falls out the other teeth are likely to start falling out too, so I don’t know what to do, does this mean that my molar is going to start falling out? What function do wisdom teeth serve?
When is the earliest you can bring your child to the dentist? Is there such a thing as bringing them too early? My 2 year old barely has teeth, but has an unpleasant odor in the mouth in the morning. We are still breast feeding, is this bad? What are the effects of breast milk on teeth? Should I stop now that almost all of her teeth are in? We brush every morning, but perhaps there is more that I could be doing for her?
I have a problem that I cannot seem to find a solution for on the internet, and do not know if a dentist should see it or not. Every once in a while (about every other month), for a few days I get a strange metallic taste in my mouth. My tongue usually swells up and some filmy stuff shows up on it. I cannot get rid of it, it seems like the more I scrub away there is more coming up, too. This usually lasts a couple of days and my mouth is really sore, and then it goes away. I also get a tingling sensation in the gums and on a tooth that was previously root canaled when this happens. There is no bleeding and no pain, just a kind of deep itching feeling. What is this that I have? Is it serious? Does it need to be seen by a professional?
I know how sugar is bad for your teeth, but I just CAN’T stop! I have had cavities, root canals, and have recently had a molar extracted from my bottom left. BUt nonetheless, I still keep eating sugary sweets, I cannot help myself. What do I do? Is there anyway to substitute sugar for anything? I have tried aspartame and all, but they taste gross and do not deliver at all, I have sugar cravings like right after I eat them. Also, is there some way to minimize the damage? Thank you,
My name is Phillip and I am a musician. I play in a Blues Band, and have a regular club I play at every Wednesday, and I also tour for between 4 and 6 months. During these times, I drink a fair bit of booze. We are not a big band you see, and so we drink with the locals, whenever they offer as a sign of respect that they came out to see us. My teeth are quite horrid, but I am British, smoke regularly, drink coffee and eat sweets, besides the booze. I am trying to sort out my life currently, and am wondering how bad is alcohol for your teeth really? I am already trying to quit smoking and am eating far less sugar, and I am wondering how much of an improvement quitting alcohol can be to my mouth.
Before teeth develop cavities,. they show the initiated some telltale signs that things are about to go wrong. These are white splotches on the tooth surface, especially occurring on tooth surfaces that are used while biting or chewing and are coming into contact with foods on a regular basis. They can often be seen after orthodontic treatment is finished and the braces come off, and many times the wall of the tooth becomes brittle and raised, and whiter than usual. The wall may also appear thinner. These white spots are white spot lesions, or demineralized zones. They are pre-cavities, if you will, and they show you that something is going wrong with that particular area.
I have a fairly serious problem. My teeth were filled about 15 years ago, and now I have an issue. I have read about the recent ban on mercury, and I am wondering if there has already been enough damage done to consider my options. Should i get new ones, or at this point, does it not make any sense to, and should I just deal with the ones that I have? Also, the gap between the teeth and the fillings is increasing, what do I do about that?
I have been getting many letters recently about suspicious lumps appearing in peoples mouths, gums and tongue. The dear readers are always very upset, very frightened, and it is understandable, as they all suspect oral cancer. I wish I could just shrug these fears off as paranoid self centered delusions, but sadly, I cannot. As oropharyngeal cancers are on the rise, and are the fastest growing types of cancer, and is the one with the most victims among young people.
