Luminita, a young illegal immigrant from Romania, lives in a shantytown and seeks a way to escape her misery. To get food, she steals from hospital patients. One day she meets Antonio, a very old and sick widower. He seems easy prey. Luminita invades his home and wants to stay there with a kidnapped baby she plans to trade for work papers. An unbiased portrait of two social outcasts who discover the importance of interpersonal communication.

Massimiliano De Serio and Gianluca De Serio are twin brothers, born in 1978 in Turin. They have made several shorts and documentaries which have been screened at major national and international film festivals and won numerous awards. Since 2005 they have also taken part in a number of individual and collective exhibitions with films and video installations. 'Seven Acts of Mercy' is their debut in fictional feature films.
